I study businesses and write Before the Headline, a free newsletter on the story behind markets, before it becomes the news.

Mumbai

Kavish smiling in evening sunlight, curly hair, clear-framed glasses

Hi, I’m Kavish.

I’m 22. I co-founded Investace Capital, a SEBI-registered research firm in Mumbai, and I spend my days doing cool stuff.

I look for the story the market hasn’t priced in yet. I build the tools that help me find it. And I write down when I’m wrong.

How I think

Think of it like a jigsaw puzzle.

  1. One news story is like one jigsaw piece. On its own, it shows almost nothing.
  2. So I keep collecting pieces: small facts most people skip.
  3. Fit enough pieces together and you start to see the picture.
  4. That picture is my view, and it usually forms before the news catches up.
  5. Then I mark the one piece that could prove me wrong, and keep an eye on it.

What I’ve built

Investace is a small team, so I build the tools we wish someone had sold us. Most of them use AI to read, sort and draft. A person still makes every call.

  1. Coming soon

    Investace Brain, for more people

Brain runs on my Mac today, and that is exactly the problem. A laptop is not a 24-hour research desk. I’m moving it to a server so students, analysts and serious investors can read the market the way our desk does.

You’ll also get Before the Headline. Unsubscribe any time.

  2. Sep 2026 – now

    Investace Brain

I wanted a research associate who never sleeps, so I built one. It reads exchange filings, news, earnings-call transcripts and around fifty independent newsletters. It keeps every piece of evidence, and it argues against every thesis before an analyst sees it.

documents read in the first month
    18,000+
    pieces of evidence kept
    38,000+
    companies tracked
    83

It only drafts. It has never published or advised anyone on its own.

A content studio that knows SEBI’s rules

A research firm can’t post whatever it likes. My drafts start from evidence, get screened against SEBI’s advertising code, and nothing goes live without a person approving it.

  4. Sep 2026

    Films written as code

Our brand films are HTML that renders to video. Change a sentence, render again. No editor, no timeline, no waiting.

  5. Jul – Oct 2026

    The AlphaLeap platform

The full platform behind Investace’s model-portfolio service: KYC, payments, a basket sized to your own money, orders you place in your own broker account, and a rebalance check every morning. Over 300 commits in three months. It runs on Google Sheets, which people laugh at until it works.

  6. Jul 2026

    Two dashboards we switched off

I built research dashboards for two short-term products. A few weeks later we shut both down to focus on long-term research. Right call. I learned to build fast, and to let go of what I built.

  7. Jul 2026

    A compliance desk

144 SEBI documents in one offline library, and an assistant that answers compliance questions with the exact clause. The least exciting thing on this list, and probably the most useful.

  8. May 2026

    My first automation

A script that turns a client’s portfolio spreadsheet into a review deck. Its first run made 12 reports. It was rough, and it was the moment I realised what I wanted to build next.

Before the Headline

Every two weeks, one question about Indian markets. The numbers in plain language, the second-order effect most people miss, and what would prove me wrong.

No tips. No stock calls. Just clearer thinking.

From a free period in Class 10 to a research firm.

That’s me in 2019, explaining to my friends what a stock is. The longer version covers how I got here, how I think, and a little about me.
